Electronic embroidery yarns and images

Tthis weekend (17-18.3.), a multi-faceted group of over 15 e-embroidery enthusiasts got together in Helsinki at Pixelache office in Cable Factory, putting their hands to combining yarns, stitches and LEDs.

The wonderful outcomes of the E-embroidery Workshop, led by Ramyah Gowrishankar
and Kati Hyyppä, will be exhibited at a 'Open Design, Crafts & Manufacturing' demo-stalls during Camp Pixelache at Arbis adult education centre on 12.5.

All worked round a big table together, chatting with old and new friends, embroidering with brightly coloured threads their designs onto fabric framed in their circular 'hoops'. Each brought their own image or design, and the participants were shown how to integrate a simple soft-circuit electronic system, including battery & LED light, to augment their image.

We are happy and grateful for helping hands from Kässämartat (handicraft group of Uudenmaan Martat) to assist us at the workshop, and as well as recycled textile given by TAUKO (Helsinki-based clothes design-brand made from recycled materials).
